Air Canada operates some of its longest routes using its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Among these routes are journeys between Canada and the United Kingdom and trips connecting Canada and the United States. Air Canada was established in Ottawa, Canada, on January 1, 1965, and has since expanded its global reach to over 195 destinations.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 in Air Canada’s fleet has two configurations. One includes 16 business class seats and 153 economy class seats, while the other is an all-economy setup with 189 seats. The aircraft, launched in 2016, has a range of 6,570 km and can reach altitudes of 41,000 ft.

This aircraft is used on more than 200 routes, including some of Air Canada’s longest narrow-body flights. Recent routes to Europe include Toronto to Prague, Montreal to Naples, and Montreal to Porto. One of the popular flights from Canada is from Halifax to London Heathrow, taking six hours. Another long-distance U.S. route is from Vancouver to Miami, which lasts approximately six hours and seven minutes. The Vancouver to Kona route is also popular among vacationers.

The Boeing 737 Max suffered a worldwide grounding in 2019 due to safety concerns. “At Air Canada, safety is our top priority,” the airline stated. The aircraft resumed service on February 1, 2021, after passing regulatory checks.

Air Canada also plans to launch a route from Montreal to Edinburgh, starting June 26, 2025. This route, covering 3,000 nautical miles, will operate seasonally and become the longest for the airline’s Max 8 aircraft. However, Air Canada announced plans for the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft to transition to Air Canada Rouge by 2028.

Despite the limited space on the Boeing 737 Max 8 compared to larger aircraft, Air Canada ensures a variety of destinations and new routes are available for passengers.
