Airlines offer diverse training programs for pilots and maintenance personnel

The aviation industry is bolstered by a range of training programs designed to equip aspiring pilots and maintenance personnel with the necessary skills. These programs are often run by airlines themselves or in collaboration with educational institutions, ensuring high standards for those entering the field.

Delta Air Lines offers the “Propel Pilot Career Path Program,” which provides three paths—Collegiate, Company, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)—to becoming a pilot for Delta or its subsidiary, Endeavor Air. Nearly 100 participants have already completed this program. Delta employees can also pursue certification through the Company’s path after two years of employment.

United Airlines’ “Calibrate” program trains future aircraft maintenance technicians (AMT) and ground technicians through a paid-on-the-job training model across several U.S. locations.

Southwest Airlines runs the “Destination 225° Cadet Pathway,” promising rapid progression to first officer positions within four years. The course involves full-time training in partnership with CAE and other institutions.

Ryanair’s Engineering Training Academy recruits fresh talent without prior experience for its maintenance operations through apprenticeships available at various locations.

Emirates operates the Emirates Flight Training Academy at Dubai World Central, where trainees progress from zero flight hours to qualified commercial pilots over two years. Emirates also offers specialized engineering courses through its Engineering Training College.

British Airways launched the Speedbird Pilot Academy recently, attracting significant interest due to its coverage of training costs. The program forms part of BA’s substantial investment in modernizing operations.

SIA Engineering Training Academy offers aerospace-related courses globally, benefiting from partnerships with numerous airlines and providing line maintenance services worldwide.

EasyJet’s Generation Pilot Training Programme emphasizes gender diversity among new recruits and guarantees career placement as first officers upon completion.

Lufthansa Technik continues to be a leader in aircraft technical expertise by offering extensive vocational and type training courses for newcomers and experienced personnel alike.
