The Cessna Citation M2 Gen 3 and Embraer Phenom 100EV are prominent models in the very light jet category, designed to carry four to five passengers. These aircraft feature comfortable cabins and advanced cockpit systems aimed at providing efficiency and flexibility.
In terms of acquisition cost, the Cessna Citation M2 is priced between $4.5 million and $5.1 million, while the Embraer Phenom 100 ranges from $2.5 million to $3.2 million, nearly half the price of the Citation M2. “The Phenom 100EX isn’t just a jet; it’s an embodiment of comfort and innovation harmoniously entwined,” according to Embraer.
The performance specifications for the Cessna Citation M2 include a range of 915 nautical miles, a maximum cruising speed of 390 knots, and a ceiling of 41,000 feet. The Embraer Phenom 100 has a longer range of 1,178 nautical miles and can cruise at speeds up to 406 knots.
Both jets offer configurable cabins with leather seating and various onboard amenities. Textron Aviation describes its cabin as offering comfort for both passengers and pilots. Jet Advisors highlights the Phenom’s interior as “comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.”
In avionics, both jets utilize different versions of Garmin suites, providing enhanced safety features like the Garmin Emergency Autoland system in the Citation M2 Gen3. Textron Aviation notes that this system “maximizes aircraft performance with precise lateral and vertical navigation guidance.”
Operating costs differ between these jets. Liberty Jet reports that flying a Cessna Citation M2 for 200 hours annually costs about $650K compared to $550K for the Embraer Phenom 100. The variable operating costs are similar; however, fixed costs for the Phenom are lower.
Both aircraft have similar capacities but differ slightly in dimensions and weight specifications.
