Copa Airlines announced on April 7 that it is offering additional flights to Toronto and New York for Panamanian fans traveling to support the national team at the World Cup.
The Panama-based airline shared details of the flights on its official social media account, encouraging fans to book seats through the airline’s channels to accompany the team. The company says the expanded service aims to help more fans secure spots for matches in North America.
Air transport contributes significantly to Panama’s economy, according to a study by Oxford Economics for IATA. The sector generates a total economic impact of 6.8 billion dollars to GDP and supports 194 thousand jobs, including direct employment and tourism-related activity. Panama’s hub at Tocumen International Airport serves as a key connector for regional travel. Expanded route options like the new flights strengthen these economic linkages for local industries and tourism.
Copa Airlines functions as Panama’s flag carrier and a member of the Star Alliance network. Headquartered in Panama City, the airline provides extensive connectivity throughout North Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Founded decades ago, it has grown into a major operator known for reliable service from Tocumen International Airport. The carrier focuses on route development that benefits passengers and supports broader economic activity in the region, according to Copa Airlines.
