As the end of 2025 approaches, Delta Air Lines is informing SkyMiles Members about updates and reminders for securing Medallion Status for 2026. The airline has announced that several changes will take effect beginning February 1, 2026, while some key program features will remain unchanged.

Delta has refreshed its Choice Benefits for Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members, offering more customizable options. Dwight James, Senior Vice President – Customer Engagement & Loyalty and CEO of Delta Vacations, stated: “The SkyMiles program is built on a foundation of listening to our Members and evolving to meet their needs. The latest Choice Benefits updates reflect Member feedback and our commitment to delivering an experience that rewards loyalty in a variety of ways. Earning and keeping the trust of our Members means being transparent about changes and continually investing in the experiences that matter most.”

Members who select Choice Benefits at a lower value before February 1, 2026, will receive the difference by mid-February 2026. Those who choose higher statement credit values before they decrease on February 1 will retain those higher values without adjustment. All other exclusive options remain unchanged.

Delta also highlighted several ways for members to earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) before December 31:

– Flying with Delta or partner airlines allows members to earn MQDs based on ticket price (excluding taxes, fees, and Main Basic tickets). Award Tickets and Upgrades with Miles (excluding Main Basic) also contribute toward MQD accumulation.
– Using eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards for purchases can help accumulate MQDs. Certain cardholders receive an MQD Headstart each qualification year.
– Booking Delta Vacations packages enables members to earn MQDs on the entire package price—including flights, hotels, rides, and activities—at $1 MQD per $1 spent.

The “Elevate Your Status” program has returned through December 31. This initiative lets eligible U.S.-based SkyMiles and Medallion Members make a one-time MQD purchase to reach the next status tier for 2026. Notably, all proceeds from this program (excluding processing fees) will be used to fund sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which can reduce lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.

Delta confirmed that MQD thresholds required for qualifying for 2027 Medallion Status will not change next year.

Members are encouraged to use the Delta app as a tool for tracking their progress toward achieving or maintaining Medallion Status.
