Starting April 24, Delta SkyMiles members in the United States can earn miles through eligible Uber rides and Uber Eats purchases. The new partnership between Delta Air Lines and Uber aims to enhance the loyalty program by providing additional earning opportunities for members.

SkyMiles are accumulated through various means and can be redeemed for flights and non-flight activities. This collaboration with Uber marks another step for Delta Air Lines in attracting and rewarding more loyalty program members.

Eligible members can link their Uber and SkyMiles accounts via the Uber app to start earning miles. Customers on the Uber waitlist gained early access on April 22, while others can join starting April 24. The rewards system offers three miles per eligible dollar spent on Uber Reserve, two miles per dollar on premium rides such as Uber Comfort and Uber Black, and one mile per dollar on Uber X rides for airport travel. Uber Eats customers earn one mile for every eligible dollar spent on orders over $40.

Delta VP of Loyalty Prashant Sharma stated, “SkyMiles Membership is about giving Delta’s loyal customers more ways to earn even more miles, fly with more ease, and experience more of what really matters to them.”

The Delta and Uber partnership was initially announced during CES 2025 as part of Delta CEO Ed Bastian’s keynote with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. This initiative is part of Delta’s goal of creating a seamless, membership-enhanced travel experience.

Uber’s VP of Operations and GM Mobility, US&C, Camiel Irving, highlighted that 15% of Uber trips begin or end at airports, underscoring its significance to travelers. Ensuring members have the latest Uber app is crucial for account linking.

SkyMiles members can earn miles in multiple ways, including Delta flights, using a SkyMiles American Express Card, and now purchases with partners like Uber. Delta SkyMiles do not expire and can be used for award travel, Delta Vacations, premium drinks, seat upgrades, seat selection, and car rentals.

Delta and Uber are also working on improving the airport experience, with plans for enhanced instructions and better pickup and drop-off services. Delta envisions a future where multi-modal travel is seamless through integration with partners. Over time, they plan to analyze customer needs for optimal travel solutions.

Future plans include collaboration with Joby’s electric air taxi service, expected to operate to New York La Guardia, John F. Kennedy, and Los Angeles airports, pending regulatory approval.
