This year, Emirates celebrates a quarter-century of service to Bahrain, marking 25 years since its first flight landed in the Kingdom. The airline has been instrumental in developing trade relations and providing travelers from Bahrain access to over 140 global destinations.
To commemorate this milestone, Emirates hosted a dinner attended by government officials, VIPs, and travel industry members. Key figures included Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President Passenger Sales and Country Management, and Reema Al Marzooqi, Area Manager Bahrain. They welcomed HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications, among others. Long-serving employees such as Amna Ismaeel Abdulla Ali and Akmal Baig were recognized for their contributions.
Since its inaugural Boeing 777-200 flight on January 25, 2000, Emirates has transported over 7.86 million passengers on the Bahrain route. The airline recently introduced the Airbus A350 on two daily flights from Bahrain to enhance passenger experience.
Nabil Sultan stated: “As we celebrate 25 years of flying to Bahrain, we thank our partners and customers for their ongoing support. Bahrain is a key destination in our network, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to support trade and tourism, and to delivering on our ‘Fly Better’ promise for our travellers from and to Bahrain.”
Emirates’ operations in Bahrain have expanded significantly over the years. The airline now offers 22 weekly flights with nearly 7,000 seats each way using Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s. The iconic Emirates A380 has also been deployed during peak times.
In addition to passenger services, Emirates SkyCargo has played a role in supporting Bahrain’s trade by transporting over 146,000 tonnes of cargo in the past five years. Exports include courier items and automotive parts while imports consist of chilled meat and pharmaceuticals.
Emirates SkyCargo provides flexibility by connecting oversized or irregular items via Road Feeder Service to its fleet and global network.
