The Emirates Group, a major employer in Dubai, has introduced a new lounge at its headquarters named ‘Wejhaty,’ which translates to ‘my destination’ in Arabic. This facility is designed for candidates, employees, their families, and retirees of the company. The lounge was inaugurated by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
Covering 22,770 square feet, Wejhaty can accommodate up to 500 people simultaneously and 1,200 daily. It aims to enhance the employee experience through advanced technology and responsive services. “The Emirates Group’s next era will witness unprecedented global growth,” stated HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. “Our focus is firmly on our own people.”
Employees and their families have access to various services such as medical fitness tests, biometrics, HR support, IT assistance, payroll services, international visa services, and a supervised play area for children. An auditorium with high-tech audio-visual solutions is available for training or team-building activities.
Candidates visiting the Emirates Group for recruitment can use state-of-the-art spaces designed to provide a stress-free experience. Wejhaty hosts 400 candidates for assessments and interviews annually. Facilities include an executive lounge for senior executives and meeting rooms equipped with modern presentation technology.
New joiners can explore immersive spaces that introduce them to local culture and the values of Dubai and the Emirates Group. The lounge also features art installations, social spaces, modular seating areas, a pantry, lockers, dressing rooms for uniformed employees, and Business Class seats made from recycled materials.
In October 2024, ahead of introducing Airbus A350s into its fleet, Emirates invested $48 million in pilot and cabin crew training equipment. This includes three full flight simulators integrated with innovative pilot support systems (PSS). “Spearheading innovation is at the core of Emirates’ DNA,” said Capt Bader Al Marzooqi.
As of late October 2024, nearly 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew had been trained on the new A350 aircraft using evidence-based methods in specially designed environments. Cabin crew training covers various disciplines such as safety procedures and service protocols.
Emirates operates several aircraft types including Airbus A350-900s and Boeing models like the 777-300ER. The airline has numerous orders placed for future expansion plans involving new routes across its network.
