Etihad Airways announced on April 8 that it will launch seasonal nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka starting June 26. The service will operate four times a week using Boeing 777 aircraft to meet passenger demand and support connections for the Bangladeshi community in the United Arab Emirates.
The new route is intended to serve the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UAE, estimated at around 850,000 people, according to Global Media Insight. This community plays an important role in various economic sectors within the country, and Etihad Airways expects improved air connectivity to make travel more convenient for families and workers, while supporting ongoing economic and social relations between Bangladesh and the UAE.
Etihad Airways shared details of the new seasonal route through its official social media account. The post outlines that booking is now available through the airline’s website and other standard channels for this operation.
Bilateral trade between the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh has grown substantially in recent years. In 2023, UAE exports to Bangladesh reached $1.28 billion, with active investments in power, construction, and other sectors. The new air service is expected to further enhance business travel and cargo movement, supporting these established economic relationships, according to trade data from OEC World.
Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates with headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The carrier operates a modern fleet that includes Boeing 777 aircraft and serves destinations across the Middle East, Asia, and other regions.
