Eurowings announced on May 13 that its crew members can now wear white sneakers with the Eurowings logo as part of their uniform every day, expanding the previously limited “Sneaker Flydays” initiative. The airline said this change comes in response to employee requests for more comfort and reflects a modern approach to crew attire.

The move aims to improve both staff comfort and the passenger experience by updating the traditional uniform. The company said many passengers have responded positively to the sneaker look in customer feedback and on social media.

Max Kownatzki, Chief Executive Officer of Eurowings, said, “Whether travelling for business or leisure, no other shoe combines professionalism, comfort and ease quite as naturally as the sneaker. The modern look also underlines our identity as Europe’s value airline – with a clear ambition to differentiate ourselves from the traditional low-cost competition. That applies not only to the quality of our products and services, but also to the way we present ourselves.”

Eurowings operates 13 international bases including one on Mallorca and regularly updates its aircraft fleet in an effort to enhance passenger experiences, according to the official website. As part of Lufthansa Group, Eurowings serves about 150 destinations across Europe and neighboring countries from these bases. The airline employs around 5,300 people and maintains a fleet of roughly 100 aircraft.

The company describes itself as focusing on affordable, flexible, comfortable and sustainable air travel options while offering customizable fares such as BASIC, SMART and BIZclass options according to its official website.

By making sneakers a permanent part of its crew uniform policy, Eurowings signals ongoing efforts toward employee satisfaction while continuing its positioning within Europe’s competitive aviation sector.
