Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has introduced its FedEx Surround, a solution aimed at improving logistics and supply chain management for customers in Korea. This new service is also accessible to clients in Australia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong SAR. The company plans to expand it further into additional APAC markets.

The FedEx Surround tools are designed to integrate with the existing transportation network of FedEx. Customers can choose from three levels of service: Select, Preferred, and Premium. These services cater to various industries such as healthcare, aerospace, and high-tech by providing critical updates and interventions that help maintain the integrity and timely delivery of sensitive shipments.

FedEx Surround offers several benefits:

1. Flexibility and Control: The Surround dashboard provides near real-time global visibility using AI and SenseAware ID.
2. Greater Value: A special handling code enhances operational capability with prioritized boarding and handling.
3. Peace of Mind: Continuous expert support ensures proactive monitoring with dedicated teams available 24/7.

Wonbin Park, managing director of FedEx Korea stated: “In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, supply chain visibility and agility are more important than ever.” He added that the solution empowers businesses in Korea to optimize operations.

The technology behind FedEx Surround includes advanced sensors like SenseAware ID which transmits precise package location data every two seconds via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This system allows packages equipped with these sensors to be tracked hundreds of times compared to traditional methods.

FedEx’s commitment to innovation is evident through its use of AI and machine learning within the FedEx Surround system. These technologies help predict potential disruptions in shipping processes enabling swift decision-making for both FedEx and its customers. Additionally, smart digital tools such as FedEx Ship Manager are available to enhance efficiency.
