FedEx has announced that it will shorten shipping times by one day for export shipments originating from parts of Aichi and Gifu prefectures in Japan. This change applies to customers in selected cities and districts who use FedEx’s international express services, allowing weekday shipments to reach their destinations one day earlier.

The enhancement covers several FedEx services: International Priority Express (IPE), International Priority (IP), International Priority Freight (IPF), International Economy (IE), and International Economy Freight (IEF). The improvement is targeted at customers exporting goods to Asia.

The affected areas include Ichinomiya, Kasugai, Kitanagoya, Iwakura, Konan, and parts of Nishikasugai District in Aichi Prefecture, as well as Gifu City, Kakamigahara, and Ogaki in Gifu Prefecture. These locations are part of the Chukyo Industrial Zone, which is known for its aerospace, automotive, machinery, and textile industries. Many companies in these regions conduct active trade with countries such as China, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Kei Kubota, Managing Director of FedEx in Japan said: “This service enhancement reflects our commitment to helping customers ship more efficiently and reliably amid the dynamic movements of the Asian market. By shortening transit times from Aichi and Gifu prefectures, we support businesses that drive exports from this region and contribute to industrial growth and revitalization of the local economy.”

Earlier this year FedEx also reduced transit times by one day for shipments leaving certain areas in Saitama and Kyoto prefectures bound for international destinations. The company continues to strengthen its global network. In August 2025 it announced plans to double the size of its facility at Narita International Airport; the new facility is expected to begin phased operations starting in late 2026.
