Hotel industry sees major expansions and collaborations

April brought significant developments in the hotel industry, including new partnerships and anticipated openings. Marriott’s acquisition of the Dutch lifestyle brand CitizenM marks its entry into a competitive market where Hilton and Hyatt have been actively expanding their portfolios.

In Mexico, Raffles is set to open its first North American resort in Los Cabos’ East Cape area by 2029. The property will offer 80 rooms, 46 branded residences, multiple pools, a spa, beachfront watersports, and signature bars. Omer Acar, CEO of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, described it as “a bold expression of our brand’s commitment to remarkable design, sustainable practices, and the art of exceptional guest experiences.”

The W Austin has unveiled its redesigned Penthouse I suite on the 16th floor. The 1,798-square-foot suite features panoramic views of Austin’s skyline and Lady Bird Lake along with local art and high-end amenities.

Rosewood Amsterdam has finally opened after delays. Located in a historic building dating back to 1665 on Prinsengracht (the Prince’s Canal), it offers 134 rooms including five signature suites.

Westin has collaborated with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop for a video series focusing on sleep quality. This partnership aims to educate viewers on optimal sleeping conditions and techniques like strategic napping.

The Mercer Hotel in New York City has partnered with Bond Hospitality founder Scott Sartiano. Guests now have access to Zero Bond membership club benefits without needing membership themselves.

Honolulu’s Lei Stand cocktail bar has moved to Romer House Waikiki. The bar continues to offer modern tiki classics alongside live music and lei-making demonstrations.

Other notable updates include new Hyatt hotels offering bonus points per night stays and the opening of St. Regis Cap Cana Resort.
