Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) has become a major hub for air travel, ranking as the third-busiest airport in Canada. In 2024, it experienced its busiest year yet, with over 22.4 million passengers passing through its terminals. Of these travelers, more than 5.2 million were on transborder flights to the United States.

Using data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, here are the ten longest US routes from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport as of January 2025:

The tenth-longest route is between Montréal and New Orleans (MSY), covering 1,393 miles. Air Canada Express operates two flights on this route using Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.

Next is the route to Miami (MIA), which spans 1,404 miles. American Airlines offers 16 flights each way in January 2025, while Air Canada Rouge provides a double-daily frequency with Airbus A319 and A321 aircraft.

The eighth-longest route is to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), measuring 1,513 miles. American Airlines runs six flights each way using Airbus A319s, while Jazz Aviation offers daily service under the Air Canada Express brand with Embraer E175s.

At seventh place is Houston (IAH), at a distance of 1,584 miles. Air Canada connects YUL to IAH daily with Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

The sixth-longest route leads to Denver (DEN), stretching over 1,611 miles. This service is operated daily by Air Canada using Airbus A220-300 aircraft without direct competition.

In fifth place is San Juan (SJU) in Puerto Rico at 1,915 miles. Both Air Canada Rouge and Air Transat operate weekly flights deploying Airbus A319 and A321neo respectively.

Phoenix (PHX) ranks fourth at a distance of 2,183 miles from Montréal. In January 2025, Air Canada Rouge will run a total of 18 flights each way using Airbus A319s.

Las Vegas (LAS) takes third place with a distance of 2,239 miles from YUL. Three airlines serve this leisure destination: Air Canada with Airbus A330-300s; Air Canada Rouge with Airbus A319s; and Porter Airlines with Embraer E195-E2s.

Los Angeles (LAX) ranks second among the longest routes at a distance of 2,473 miles from Montréal. The Star Alliance carrier deploys Boeing 737 MAX 8s for this daily service.

Finally topping the list is San Francisco (SFO), located some 2,538 miles away from YUL—making it the longest US route operated solely by Air Canada’s Boeing 737 MAX8 aircraft under codeshare agreements with United Airlines.

These routes highlight not only significant connections between Canadian cities but also showcase their growing importance within North America’s aviation network amidst increasing passenger numbers seen last year alone across various destinations such as Taipei or London Heathrow among others according latest statistics available regarding international traffic volumes recorded recently out those respective airports mentioned above too!
