NetJets has emerged as the leading private jet provider in the United States, according to data from Private Jet Card Comparisons. The company recorded over 600,000 charter hours in 2023, which is nearly three times more than any other competitor. Flexjet holds the second position, showing significant growth from 2022 to 2023.

Private jet usage has been on the rise globally, with many individuals and businesses opting for alternatives such as charter and fractional ownership. “Our analysis is unique to other lists,” explains Private Jet Card Comparisons. “It rolls up majority and minority-owned Part 135 (charter) and 91k (fractional) operators to their parents.”

In terms of flight hours for 2023, NetJets Inc reported a total of 609,515 hours with a market share of 11.5%. Flexjet Inc followed with 204,836 hours and a market share of 3.87%, marking an increase of 11.6% from the previous year. Vista Global came in third place despite a decrease in flight hours by nearly 10%.

NetJets’ fleet consists of over 800 aircraft, including various types ranging from light jets like the Embraer Phenom 300E to ultra-long-range jets such as the Bombardier Global 7500. The company was founded in 1964 and was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in 1998.

Flexjet was established in 1995 and has grown its fleet to over 270 aircraft, primarily consisting of Gulfstream jets for large and long-range categories.

Vista Global launched in 2018 by Thomas Flohr has expanded through acquisitions but experienced a decline in flight hours last year.

Other notable private jet providers include Wheels Up and FlyExclusive, both maintaining positions within the top five despite challenges faced by some competitors due to increased market competition.

The private jet market remains open with many providers holding smaller yet significant shares. Despite NetJets’ dominance accounting for only a fraction of total flight hours, there have been numerous changes among rankings over recent years.
