Aviationtag and Widerøe have collaborated to produce limited-edition travel tags made from the fuselage of a retired De Havilland Canada Dash-8 Q300 aircraft. This initiative celebrates Widerøe's 90th anniversary and its long history with various Dash 8 aircraft models, including the Q100, Q200, Q300, and Q400.

The German company Aviationtag specializes in creating metal tags from retired airframes. For this special occasion, they will create travel tags from an ex-Widerøe Dash-8 Q300 aircraft registered as LN-WFP. The aircraft was delivered to Widerøe by Bombardier in May 1998 and retired in June 2023 after accumulating 44,954 flight hours and 56,999 flight cycles.

The limited-edition collection will feature tags in four different colors, priced starting at €29.95 ($32.43). Tobias Richter, Chief Commercial Officer of Aviationtag, expressed pride in transforming parts of the Widerøe aircraft into a unique collection. "This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and preserving the heritage of iconic aircraft," said Richter.

Christian Skaug, Chief Commercial Officer of Widerøe, highlighted that these travel tags celebrate both the airline’s anniversary and its historical connection with the Dash 8 series since the 1990s. "We are excited to offer aviation enthusiasts a chance to own a part of Widerøe’s fantastic history while supporting sustainable practices within the aviation industry," stated Skaug.

Widerøe operates a fleet comprising mainly variants of the Dash 8 family: 24 Dash 8 Q100s, three Q200s, three Q300s, and 16 Q400s. Additionally, it has three Embraer E190-E2 aircraft received between April and June 2018.

In July 2022, Widerøe announced closer collaboration with Norwegian Air Shuttle through an interlining agreement covering both airlines' full networks. On July 6, 2023, Norwegian acquired Widerøe's parent company WF Holding but emphasized that Widerøe would maintain separate branding and headquarters in Bodø. The acquisition was approved by Norway's Competition Authority (Konkurransetilsynet) in December 2023 after evaluating potential market dominance concerns.
