The National Park Foundation has announced an 'Adventure Awaits' sweepstakes, offering a grand prize of 500,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles and a $12,500 travel allowance. Participants can enter by donating to the foundation or mailing a postcard. Donations support the foundation's mission to protect and preserve over 420 national park sites across the United States.

The sweepstakes is open to U.S. residents, excluding those in Washington and Montana. Winners will be announced in early September. The Grand Prize winner will receive half a million frequent flyer miles from American Airlines, allowing them to bring three friends or family members to a National Park of their choice. Additionally, they will receive $12,500 for travel expenses and free luggage from BÉIS.

To enter the competition, participants can visit the official entry page on the National Park Foundation website. There are three ways to participate: donating online through various methods including Apple Pay and PayPal; entering by mail with a donation; or sending a postcard without making any donation. Postcards must include the participant's name, address, phone number, and optionally an email address. All entries must be postmarked by August 31st and received by September 7th.

According to the official rules, "No donation is technically necessary to enter." Each postcard entry must be mailed individually to: National Park Foundation 2024 Adventure Awaits Sweepstakes, PO Box 9327, Medford, NY 11763-9327.

The odds of winning the grand prize are estimated at 1:1,361,390. Additionally, one hundred runner-up winners will receive an official National Park Foundation branded tote bag and a 17-ounce stainless steel water bottle with odds of winning at 1:13,613.

The sweepstakes runs through August 31st with winners notified in early September. Employees of the National Park Foundation, American Airlines, BÉIS as well as their advertising partners are not eligible to participate along with their immediate families and household members.

Funds raised from this initiative will support the National Park Foundation’s efforts in aiding the National Park Service’s mission of protecting America's national parks for future generations.

American Airlines services Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) within Grand Teton National Park—Wyoming's busiest airport—with daily flights connecting Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Charlotte (CLT), and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). Other airlines such as Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines also operate at JAC.
