Southwest Airlines is offering a giveaway of one million Rapid Rewards points to celebrate surpassing one million followers on Instagram. The promotion, part of the Summer of Go sweepstakes, includes weekly destination prize packages. To participate, users must follow @SouthwestAir on Instagram, like and comment on the relevant post with specific hashtags, and tag a friend. Additionally, five winners will receive $500 Southwest gift cards.

The Summer of Go sweepstakes provides weekly opportunities to win trips to various leisure destinations without requiring social media participation. The grand prize winner will be awarded one million Rapid Rewards points, while five others will each receive a $500 Southwest gift card. Winners will be selected randomly on July 16th and notified via direct message from the official @SouthwestAir account.

An airline spokesperson expressed excitement about sharing this milestone with frequent flyers: “We’ve had a lot of fun with our followers on Instagram, sharing travel inspiration, heartwarming stories, and some of our favorite #swapic submissions. We’re excited to reach the milestone of 1 million followers and had to celebrate in the best way—by thanking our loyal Customers with 1 million Rapid Rewards points to help them book their next getaway.”

Southwest Airlines uses dynamic pricing for flights, making it challenging to determine exactly how many flights one million points will cover. However, the airline confirmed that one million Rapid Rewards points are equivalent to $12,048 in travel value. Passengers are still responsible for taxes, fees, and other charges.

For those not using Instagram, the Summer of Go sweepstakes offers weekly prize packages including round-trip air travel for two, accommodation, ground transportation gift cards, and 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points. This week’s destination is Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), with prizes including round-trip air travel for two on Southwest Airlines, a $250 Visa gift card for ground transportation, two nights at The Desota hotel in double occupancy accommodations, two Savannah Tour VIP passes providing access to various tours and attractions throughout the city, and 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points.

Jennifer Bridie, Vice President of Marketing Communications & Strategy at Southwest Airlines explained: "Our robust route map includes destinations from coast to coast that offer adventures for every type of traveler seeking a getaway. As our Customers consider their next vacation we’re providing even more reasons to turn their plans from wanna go to gonna go with opportunities to win prize packages along the way."

The Summer of Go sweepstakes is open to legal residents of 48 US states (excluding Alaska and Rhode Island) and the District of Columbia who are 19 or older at the time of entry. The deadline for entering the Savannah promotion is July 8th at 23:59 Central Time.
