Asiana Airlines will operate its Airbus A380 on four occasions to Frankfurt in September and November. The carrier last served this route in 2023. By the end of the year, Asiana plans to operate seven double-decker routes globally, including to Barcelona.

Tracking Asiana's A380 operations has proven challenging due to frequent changes and infrequent flights. This is particularly true for the Seoul Incheon to Frankfurt route, with just four roundtrip services planned for later this year. The airline previously used its A380 aircraft on this route between 2017 and 2020 and again in 2023.

Asiana's 495-seat A380s are scheduled for flights to Germany on September 26, September 30, November 10, and November 15. While the November dates were scheduled earlier, the September flights are new additions. The reasons for such irregular operations remain unclear. On these dates, the A380 will replace the smaller A350-900, offering a 59% increase in seating capacity per flight.

The larger aircraft will feature 12 business suites (not available on the A350), an additional 38 business class seats (+136%), and an extra 170 economy seats (+69%). However, there will be no premium economy class on these flights as opposed to the A350.

Due to avoiding Russian airspace like many other airlines, Asiana’s flights now cover greater distances than usual. This results in increased fuel consumption, emissions, flight duration, and en route charges. In September, flying time to Germany is expected to be around 13 hours and 45 minutes—16% longer than before current geopolitical tensions.

The schedule for these flights mirrors that of the A350:

Seoul Incheon-Frankfurt:

- September: Departs at 09:45 and arrives at 16:30 (13h 45m)

- November: Departs at 09:00 and arrives at 14:50 (13h 50m)

Frankfurt-Seoul Incheon:

- September: Departs at 18:30 and arrives at 13:20+1 (11h 50m)

- November: Departs at 17:35 and arrives at 13:15+1 (11h40m)

Asiana’s broader A380 network until year-end includes:

Seoul Incheon-Los Angeles:

- Double daily until November; then daily

Seoul Incheon-Tokyo Narita:

- Daily until October

Seoul Incheon-Sydney:

- Daily from December

Seoul Incheon-Taipei Taoyuan:

- Four times weekly from September through October

Seoul Incheon-Osaka Kansai:

- Various dates in August through October

Seoul Incheon-Barcelon:

- Two dates in September

Additionally noteworthy is Seoul Incheon-Osaka Kansai being the world’s shortest scheduled A380 service covering just over eight hundred kilometers each way.
