Copa Airlines has added the Boeing 737 MAX 8 to its fleet, providing increased flexibility in markets with lower demand. The initial commercial operation of the aircraft, which was delayed, is now set to commence on August 15, 2024. The aircraft will serve over 30 destinations across the Americas starting from October 2024.

The Panamanian airline already operates the larger Boeing 737 MAX 9 and other variants like the Boeing 737-700s and 737-800s. According to Airlinegeeks, Copa Airlines received its first Boeing 737-8 after several months of production delays. This addition marks a significant milestone for the Panama-based carrier.

Initially, Copa had planned to begin commercial operations with the new aircraft this month. However, unforeseen circumstances have pushed back the deployment of the smallest 737 MAX variant within Copa's network to September 2, 2024.
