The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has appointed Syed Mehdi, A.A.E., as Vice President of Airport Planning. In this role, Mr. Mehdi will oversee strategic infrastructure and facility planning, manage long-term projects including airport master plan updates, near-term planning initiatives, and the airport capital improvement plan. He assumed his new position on July 1, 2024.

Mr. Mehdi brings over 28 years of experience in airport management to the role. Most recently, he served as Chief Enterprise Asset Management Officer for San Antonio International Airport, where he led Strategy, Performance Management, Employee Development and Engagement, Procurement, Business Opportunity & Diversity (DBE/ACDBE), and Innovation functions. His previous roles include Airport Planning Consultant at Modalis Infrastructure Partners and Managing Consultant – Planning at Landrum & Brown. Additionally, he was Head of Airport Safety and Aviation Security for Civil Aviation Affairs in Bahrain and Director of Commercial Air Service, Marketing & Public Relations for Bahrain International Airport.

Mr. Mehdi holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University and a master’s degree in Airport Planning & Management from Loughborough University. He is also an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
