Tips from LAX for smooth travels during July Fourth holiday

Airports

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is preparing for a busy July Fourth travel period, with high passenger numbers expected through July 8. Doug Webster, Interim Chief Operations and Maintenance Officer at Los Angeles World Airports, noted, "With the July Fourth travel period already bustling, we will see continued high passenger numbers at LAX through July 8. Looking ahead, domestic travel remains steady leading into the fall, and international travel continues to grow, with notable increases in travel to Canada and Central and South America."

In response to anticipated higher traffic throughout the summer, LAX has provided practical tips for travelers to ensure a smooth journey.

Travelers are advised to plan ahead by checking flight statuses before arriving at the airport and utilizing online check-in options if available. Those meeting someone at the airport should verify the flight status and arrival terminal beforehand. Real-time traffic and parking information can be accessed via the automated @FlyLAXstats X feed.

For curbside pickup and drop-off, both Upper/Departures and Lower/Arrivals levels are available. All parking structures offer free parking for the first 15 minutes. Two cell phone waiting lots located at 96th Street & Alverstone Avenue and 96th Street & Vicksburg Avenue provide spaces for drivers to wait until passengers are ready for pickup.

To navigate TSA checkpoints more efficiently, travelers are encouraged to enroll in programs such as TSA Preè or U.S. Customs & Border Protection's Global Entry.

LAX also highlights new dining options this summer, including CAVA and Pizza Please in Terminal 3. Passengers can skip lines by placing orders through LAXOrderNow and enjoy a discount on mobile orders through July 8 using promo code: LAXJULY2024.

For those looking to work while traveling, most terminals feature workspaces with power outlets and free Wi-Fi. Additionally, various amenities such as Gameway arcades in Terminals 3 and 6 provide entertainment options.

The airport's Art Program showcases local talents with over 20 temporary and 10 permanent installations across the terminals. The PUPS Program offers therapy dogs that roam departure levels providing comfort to passengers awaiting flights.

Musically inclined travelers can play Kawai pianos available in Terminal B near gate 201A and Terminal 7 beyond the TSA checkpoint.

Further information about flight statuses, parking reservations, dining options, lost-and-found services, virtual assistance via AskLAX, or contacting the construction hotline can be found on LAX’s main site.
