Citibank and American Airlines have rebranded their small business card, the Citi® / AAdvantage BusinessTM World Elite Mastercard®. The card now offers 65,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $4,000 in purchases within the first four months of account opening. The card’s $99 annual fee is waived for the first 12 months.

The benefits include a first checked bag on domestic American Airlines itineraries for the primary cardholder and preferred boarding on American Airlines flights. Cardholders earn 2 AAdvantage miles per $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases, telecommunications merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants, and gas stations. Other purchases earn 1 AAdvantage mile per $1 spent. Additionally, users earn 1 Loyalty Point for every eligible mile earned from purchases.

Miles earned on the card accrue into an AAdvantage Business account. If an account does not already exist, one will be created upon obtaining the card. These miles can be transferred to personal AAdvantage accounts or to accounts of registered travelers attached to the business account. Normally, companies need to meet a $5,000 spend and have five travelers minimum to transfer points out of an AAdvantage Business account; however, these minimums are waived for cardholders.

Authorized employee cards also accrue miles into the AAdvantage Business account while Loyalty Points towards status from card spending accrue to each traveler’s own AAdvantage account. When booking direct with American Airlines for work trips, travelers earn an extra Loyalty Point per dollar spent on tickets.

Historically, getting this card has not impacted approval chances for Chase cards under their 5/24 rule. It is possible to hold this card even if one already possesses a Citi or Barclays consumer or small business credit card. According to reports from readers, approval rates are generally high.

Applicants can only receive an initial bonus on a Citi card every 48 months; this limitation applies specifically to individual cards rather than entire families of cards. For example, holding a Citi Executive or Barclays Aviator Silver card does not preclude one from being approved for this rebranded business card or earning its bonus.

Accumulating at least 69,000 miles through this offer opens up opportunities such as flying from the US to destinations like the Middle East or Southeast Asia in premium classes with partner airlines like Qatar Airways and Japan Airlines.

In addition to Citibank's offerings, American partners with Barclays for co-branded credit cards as well. This allows customers multiple avenues (up to four different cards) to accumulate mileage currency efficiently.
