Boeing will continue prioritizing safety and quality at its factories, which is why it decided not to bring any flight demonstrators to the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow. Instead, Boeing's customers will bring static aircraft, including a Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9.

During the previous Farnborough International Airshow, Boeing brought the 737 MAX and 777X flight demonstrators. Boeing has affirmed that it will not bring any test aircraft to the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow, with the manufacturer focusing instead on safety and quality during the event and in general.

In a statement on July 15, Boeing said that it had tailored its presence at the upcoming industry event since the company has been focusing on strengthening its safety and quality processes and meeting its customer commitments. At the same time, the aircraft manufacturer has promised interactive product and technology displays from its portfolio of products, which includes sustainable technologies such as the X-66A Sustainable Flight Demonstrator, Boeing ecoDemonstrator, and Cascade data-visualization tool.

In addition, attendees will be able to visit displays featuring defense products like the F-15, cabin products demonstrations of joint all-domain command and control capabilities, environmental modeling capabilities, and Boeing’s freighter programs portfolio. A full-size 777X interior section will also be showcased to highlight features such as a wider cabin, larger windows, and spacious interior. The type has amassed 480 orders from customers globally.

As reported earlier, Boeing will not bring any flight demonstrators to the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow taking place between July 22 and July 26. At previous events, Boeing showcased models like the 777X and 737 MAX 10; in 2018 they had a larger presence including an Air Italy-operated 737 MAX 8.

Qatar Airways will bring its Boeing 787-9 for a static display while two F-15QA aircraft with different configurations are scheduled for aerial demonstrations. Meanwhile, several US Army (USA) and US Navy (USN) aircraft such as P-8A Poseidon assembled on the 737 Next Generation (NG) platform will be present courtesy of the Department of Defense (DoD). Wisk Aero—Boeing’s subsidiary developing an autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft—will also showcase its Generation 6 airplane.

Boeing’s latest push to improve safety and quality of its commercial products came after an Alaska Airlines flight AS1282 mid-air door plug blowout incident in January. Commenting on this absence at Farnborough International Airshow 2024 Brenand Nelson president of Boeing Global remarked that "the company has been focused on implementing its comprehensive safety and quality plan while meeting its customer commitments."

“With these priorities in mind we have reduced our commercial airplanes display & flight demonstrations at show & focus new technology sustainability security services solutions.” Nelson added “the best way build trust ensure manufacturer’s factories performed high-quality work one aircraft time.”
