Experience Brea Arts | Official Website

The Destination Gallery at John Wayne Airport is currently hosting the exhibition "Experience Brea Arts," which showcases the diverse art programs run by the City of Brea. For nearly 50 years, the City of Brea has been dedicated to providing rich cultural experiences for residents and visitors through fully funded arts programs.

Located in the Brea Civic and Cultural Center, the Curtis Theatre is a 199-seat venue that hosts a variety of plays, musicals, concerts, recitals, and community events year-round. This municipal facility opened in 1980 to highlight performing arts in Brea and provide a platform for guest artists from around the world. In 1982, the theatre was named for Dr. Glenn Curtis, a philanthropist and patron of the arts who practiced medicine in Brea from 1927 to 1959.

The Brea Gallery is another significant component of Brea's art scene. Established in 1980 at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center, this contemporary art space spans 6,500 square feet with floor-to-ceiling windows. It is one of the largest city-run galleries in the region and hosts four exhibitions per year, including the renowned "Made in California" regional exhibition. The gallery also offers various workshops and programming, making it a must-visit destination in Orange County for contemporary art.

Brea Gallery featured artist Mary E Kudlak was introduced to the gallery via last year's "Made in California" exhibition. She was most recently invited to showcase her work in their "Through the Dreamhouse" exhibition in January. A selection of these works—acrylic paintings depicting local Southern California streetscapes with comical imagery and exaggerated perspectives—are displayed alongside photographs of past exhibitions.

The "Experience Brea Arts" exhibition will be on view through September 2, 2024. The Destination Gallery is located on the upper level on the non-secure side of John Wayne Airport between Terminals B & C.
