On July 30, 2024, Sandie West shared her experience aboard Qantas flight QF34 from Paris to Perth on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. With premium economy tickets in hand, she detailed various aspects of her journey.

The check-in process at Charles de Gaulle Airport was smooth and efficient for premium economy passengers, who share a line with business class. The increased baggage allowance allowed for up to 40 kg total. However, there was no lounge access provided.

Priority boarding ensured a swift and comfortable seating process in the premium cabin, which consists of 28 seats arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration. Passengers were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink upon boarding.

The flight took off at 10 am Paris time. To combat jet lag, West set her watch to Perth time immediately after takeoff and appreciated the Dreamliner's lighting features designed to mimic natural daylight cycles.

Meals were served two hours after departure, featuring boeuf bourguignon and pain au chocolat for breakfast. In-flight entertainment included larger personal screens (10-13 inches) with a wide selection of movies and TV shows.

West found the sleeping arrangements satisfactory with enhanced recline seats (6-8 inches), foot cradles, supportive pillows, and cozy blankets despite temperature fluctuations during the flight.

A notable downside was the absence of WIFI connectivity throughout the journey. Nonetheless, this digital detox had its benefits.

Around midnight, an irresistible cheese croissant snack service was offered despite some turbulence mid-flight. Breakfast included bacon and eggs before landing.

West praised the dedicated cabin crew for their attentive service throughout the flight but noted that certain items like meals and bottled water ran out due to logistical considerations for long-haul flights.

Despite initial concerns about jet lag, West adjusted well to Perth's time zone thanks to smart lighting and scheduled meal times on board. She also reported no swelling in her feet upon landing.

In conclusion, West found flying premium economy on Qantas from Paris to Perth well worth the extra cost due to enhanced comfort and service levels.
