Later this year, United Airlines will have the largest airline fleet in the world and is on track to surpass 1,000 mainline aircraft in the first quarter of 2025. The airline has already claimed to be the world’s largest carrier by seat miles, though not by passengers or departures, due to its long-haul-focused route network.

Southwest Airlines recognized $1.1 billion in revenue from loyalty program partners, primarily Chase for its co-branded credit card, during the first half of 2024. Despite this, Rapid Rewards air travel liability is decreasing. The value of outstanding points is nearly $5 billion but is declining slightly. It remains unclear whether this decline results from increased redemptions or a devaluation of points.

Southwest reports “record second-quarter new member additions” and “record spend on the Company’s co-branded Chase® Visa credit card.” However, record spending could be attributed to inflation and economic growth.

Frontier Airlines' travel vouchers are reportedly difficult to use when flights are oversold. In other news, Qantas first-class lounges in Sydney and Melbourne offer private office suites that can also serve as private family rooms with a couch. First-class travelers can reserve these rooms when contacted by the First Lounge Concierge a day before their flight for spa bookings; others may inquire at reception upon arrival.

American Airlines continues to adjust its operations in Austin, reducing routes further after cutting 21 earlier this year. The latest schedule update highlights significant changes in December 2023 compared to December 2024.
