News and notes from around the internet:

Avianca LifeMiles has devalued some awards, with business class U.S. to Europe increasing from 63,000 to 70,000 miles and first class jumping from 87,000 to 130,000 miles. An Airbnb host had to ban crypto mining after guests racked up a $1,500 electric bill. "I guess this doesn’t happen as much at hotels because you’d have to wheel the servers through the lobby?" commented one observer. This incident raises questions about whether similar issues could occur in hotels or if past electricity surcharges at properties like Marriott and Hyatt were related.

Bhavin Turakhia shared on Twitter his latest airplane travel rig featuring a laptop stand, keyboard, mouse, screen, power bank, and an American Airlines swivel seat.

The TSA team at Reagan Airport recently removed a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone from a carry-on bag. Lisa Farbstein of TSA praised the team's vigilance on Twitter.

Toiletries discarded in DC airport security lines are now being donated to people in need. This action suggests that TSA acknowledges these items are not dangerous despite maintaining liquid restrictions until at least 2040.

Czech Airlines will merge into Smart Wings effective October 26 and will leave SkyTeam. The OK Plus frequent flyer program will be discontinued; all miles must be used by then. This program was considered one of the best SkyTeam loyalty programs but was difficult for U.S. members to earn points outside of partner flights.
