- Los Angeles to Singapore: 52,500 miles in premium economy.

- Singapore to New York JFK: One-way only at 56,350 miles in premium economy (Blackout dates from September 1 to 8, 2024).

- Newark to Singapore: 56,350 miles in premium economy.

"Whenever an airline discounts awards on a route," noted an industry observer, "it’s worth checking to see whether availability is really good. Usually a discount corresponds to a flight being lightly booked."

Similarly, new flights often take time to book up fully and may offer ample award space initially. Singapore Airlines' "fifth freedom" flights between Europe and Asia can provide substantial opportunities for award space. This promotion aligns with the airline's plan to discontinue the Houston-Manchester route next spring.

The New York JFK–Frankfurt route frequently offers significant amounts of business class award space beyond this promotion period and not limited to using Singapore Airlines miles. Availability includes multiple seats per flight; some dates show four or even six award seats in business class.

During this promotion, bookings can be made for 56,700 KrisFlyer points; alternatively, travelers can use Air Canada Aeroplan points anytime for similar bookings at a rate of 60,000 points. Outside the promotional period, expect the cost to rise to approximately 81,000 KrisFlyer points.

Award space improves further into October compared to September and remains favorable during the low winter season as well as towards the end of July when schedules open up again. Booking through Air Canada Aeroplan is advisable when saver space is available since Singapore Airlines typically requires around an additional ~20,000 points using their own miles.

American Express, Chase, Capital One and Bilt transfer points directly into Aeroplan accounts while American Express, Chase Capital One and Citi allow transfers into Singapore Airlines’ program.

Flying with Singapore Airlines presents an attractive option for traveling to Europe. Beyond Frankfurt connections are possible via Lufthansa using Aeroplan or by leveraging Singapore’s Star Alliance award chart.
