Comments are back and different, aiming to offer a better experience for most users. As part of the platform update, the Discourse forum hosting platform has been added to handle comments. A full explanation of using the system and customizing accounts is available. Users who wish to comment on stories and blogs will need to reregister by clicking on the login button and selecting "I forgot my password."

For readers, the significant change is that commenters will gradually gain more flexibility and privileges as they build credibility and respect. This is achieved by avoiding having posts flagged by AVweb or other readers as inappropriate. It is worth noting that since the feature was activated last Thursday, two comments have already been deleted for callousness. Another notable change is that comments for each story will be available for one week only, allowing staff to manage moderation more effectively.

The new setup is still being adjusted, and readers are encouraged to report any issues so they can be addressed promptly.
