A Spirit Airlines passenger found her front-row seat, 1A, occupied by another traveler upon boarding. The seat in question is a "Big Front Seat," which the airline plans to market as a 'real' first class starting next week.

The incident was detailed by the affected passenger: "Today, I get on the plane last… someone is occupying my seat 1A so I show the flight attendant.. the girl is obviously with the person in the seat 1C next to my seat but claims she doesn’t know where her boarding pass or seat is… the flight attendant offered to look it up she says oh I’m in 18b she can take my seat… ma’am audacity is on clearance but you need to go to your seat I’ll be taking my seat!! Like blame your gf for not booking you with her cause I know I can’t look that nice or dumb."

The woman assigned to 1A presented her boarding pass to the flight attendant. The occupant of her seat then revealed she was actually seated in 18B and proposed swapping seats – suggesting a trade of a premium first-class-style seat for a cramped middle one. This proposal was declined, and the woman from 18B ultimately moved to her designated spot at the back of the aircraft.

Once settled into her Big Front Seat, the passenger described her experience as “very classy, very demure!” adding, "And I actually know what this means!"

Spirit Airlines appears to be targeting passengers who appreciate luxury and air travel while aiming to move upscale for increased revenue amidst rising costs and -30% margins. The airline will introduce free bags, Wi-Fi, priority check-in and boarding, along with snacks and cocktails for customers purchasing these premium seats starting August 27th. These larger seats remain at the front of their aircraft because removing them during their transition to an ultra-low-cost business model proved too expensive.
