Hyatt has finalized its acquisition of Standard International, expanding beyond its initial talks to acquire only Standard Hotels. This broader deal includes not just the hotels but also Bunkhouse Group properties in Austin and Jo’s Coffee locations.

Standard Hotels' portfolio features properties in New York's Meatpacking District and East Village, Miami Beach, London, Maldives, Ibiza, and Hua Hin. The inclusion of Bunkhouse Group brings notable Austin establishments such as Hotel Magdalena, Hotel San Jose, Hotel Saint Cecilia, and the iconic Austin Motel under Hyatt's management. Additionally, Jo’s Coffee with its seven locations is part of the acquisition. The South Congress location of Jo’s Coffee is particularly famous among tourists for photo opportunities.

Hyatt's acquisition involves management, franchise, and license contracts rather than real estate ownership. Among the notable properties is the Austin Motel on South Congress Avenue. Known for its motto “So Close Yet So Far Out,” this 41-room motor lodge from the 1930s features a neon sign and attracts locals with day passes to its pool. Room rates range from $150 to $250 or more.
