A passenger at Miami International Airport brought another man, shrink-wrapped in green plastic, to the check-in counters for South American airline LATAM. The assisting passenger carefully lifted and placed the wrapped individual on a baggage scale. Later, the man in green plastic hopped away from the check-in area.

It is common for passengers traveling to South America to plastic wrap their luggage. Wrapping services are sold in check-in halls at many airports, though these services are exclusively for luggage and not people. However, checked bags are cheaper than a second ticket.

The wrapped man's companion eventually dismantled the green plastic prior to proceeding through security, surrounded by local police.

There have been other unusual instances of items being checked as luggage. A man famously checked a beer can as a standalone bag that made it all the way to baggage claim. In contrast, American Airlines failed to deliver a single bottle of deodorant, likely lost in the airport baggage system. Other items like garbage cans and even plates of sushi have also made it to baggage claim.

Many items can be checked, although they do not always make it through intact or undisturbed. United Airlines passengers have sometimes learned this when checking bottles of alcohol that were tampered with during transit. Plastic wrap does not prevent TSA inspections either.

Human beings cannot be transported as cargo, despite any perceived similarities with modern airline economy class conditions.
