American Airlines faced criticism for its economy buy-on-board product. According to One Mile at a Time, the airline's management does not prioritize delivering high-quality experiences. This approach stems from America West's decision to shift from complimentary meals to buy-on-board options under previous management.

American Airlines responded to complaints via Twitter: "Our apologies for the situation; when you have a moment, kindly join us in DM with your trip confirmation code and more details about this."
