Choice Privileges members have experienced a fluctuation in the points required to book stays at Preferred Hotels & Resorts. This partnership enables travelers to use Choice points for 314 properties worldwide. In May 2024, award rates ranged from 25,000 to 55,000 points per night. However, by June, some properties saw an increase to 87,000 points per night, and in September, certain locations demanded as much as 118,000 points.

Recently, award rates have reverted back to a maximum of 87,000 Choice points per night. According to TPG's October 2024 valuations, this amount is equivalent to approximately $522. Properties requiring the top rate include Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Florida and Half Moon in Jamaica.

Despite the recent fluctuations in pricing, most properties can be booked for less than 80,000 points per night. The lowest rate starts at 20,000 points for The Thief in Oslo.

The current stable pricing might not last if seasonal or dynamic pricing models are introduced. Yet for now, the cost remains capped at 87,000 points per night.

This rollback of increased rates is uncommon among loyalty programs. It may indicate a mistake or test led to the temporary spike. Despite these changes being rare in such partnerships, it offers an opportunity for those looking for special stays without standard Choice Hotels nearby.
