Royal Caribbean has announced plans to develop a new private beach resort in Mexico, called "Perfect Day Mexico." This new venture will be similar to the company's highly acclaimed Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. The development will cover approximately 100 acres of land at the port of Costa Maya, as confirmed by Kara Wallace, Royal Caribbean's chief marketing officer.

In an exclusive interview with TPG, Wallace stated that Perfect Day Mexico is expected to open in 2027, likely towards the latter part of the year. It will cater exclusively to Royal Caribbean cruise passengers. Wallace highlighted that Perfect Day at CocoCay is "the most successful port of call that we go to," citing high guest satisfaction ratings. She explained that this success inspired the expansion into Mexico.

The new resort will feature a mix of attractions designed for both thrill-seekers and those looking for relaxation. Although specific details about amenities were not disclosed, it was mentioned that there would be a water park, pools and beaches, restaurants, bars, and music.

Royal Caribbean Group has invested significantly in enhancing Perfect Day at CocoCay over recent years. This includes adding an adults-only zone called "Hideaway Beach" and expanding facilities to accommodate up to 13,000 visitors simultaneously.

Wallace noted that ships docking at Costa Maya would use existing docks for passenger arrivals. Visitors can choose between staying within the resort or exploring nearby areas through shore excursions—a notable difference from CocoCay where guests remain within the island's confines.

The project also involves creating a transportation hub for local tours and preserving around 100 acres as wild habitat adjacent to the development area. Mara Lezama, governor of Quintana Roo where Mahahual is located, expressed excitement about Royal Caribbean's investment plans.

This development marks one of several initiatives by Royal Caribbean Group aimed at expanding its offerings in beach destinations across the Bahamas and Caribbean. Other projects include Royal Beach Club Paradise Island set to open in 2025 and Royal Beach Club Cozumel scheduled for 2026.

Wallace indicated that itineraries featuring Perfect Day Mexico would be available for purchase starting next spring when more information about the project will also be released.
