Stephen Routh, a resident of Anchorage, has set a record by becoming the first Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan member to reach 3 Million Miler status. This milestone is equivalent to flying enough miles to travel to the moon and back six times. Routh achieved this after more than 35 years as a loyal member, frequently flying for his title-insurance business across the West and Hawaii.

Routh celebrated his 3 millionth mile on a flight from Orlando to Seattle. The flight crew marked the occasion with balloons, cake, and a personalized luggage tag made from a vintage Convair CV-240 aircraft. In return, Routh gifted Amazon gift cards to the crew members who recognized him from his frequent travels.

Routh uses his accumulated miles generously by hosting "Warrior Weekends" for veterans recovering from trauma at his homes in Alaska and Oklahoma. Over 15 years, he has flown approximately 1,200 veterans for these restorative getaways using thousands of his miles.

Alaska Airlines rewards its most frequent fliers with special perks such as complimentary inflight food and beverages and lifetime MVP Gold status. Those reaching 2 Million Milers receive limited edition luggage tags crafted from historic aircraft materials.

Despite offers from larger airlines over the years, Routh remains loyal to Alaska Airlines due to the personal connections he has formed with their staff. He appreciates the service provided by Alaska Airlines and encourages new travelers to join their Mileage Plan program.

Derrick Cunningham, Alaska's Million Miler Program Manager, expressed gratitude for Routh's continued loyalty: “Reaching 3 million miles is impressive on its own, but what really makes Stephen stand out is how he connects with so many people along the way."

Routh continues to fly extensively, having already logged over 182,000 miles this year alone. He advises fellow travelers on efficient packing and making productive use of inflight time.
