Federal Express Corporation, the global leader in express transportation, has expanded its service offerings for private customers in Austria. The company has strengthened its collaboration with myflexbox, which operates the largest open smart locker network in the German-speaking region.

Previously, FedEx customers could have their deliveries sent to one of over 550 myflexbox parcel stations across Austria. Now, they can also send and return packages via these parcel stations.

The process for sending or returning parcels is straightforward and quick. Customers bring their packages labeled with a FedEx sticker to any myflexbox location, scan the label or enter a code, follow the on-screen instructions, and place the package into a locker at the respective parcel station.

"The expansion of our collaboration is another important component of our e-commerce strategy," stated Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Nordics for FedEx. "Customers want flexibility and convenience. With this new service offering, we provide them even more options—24 hours a day, seven days a week."

"The first-mile expansion means even more service for our customers," said Jonathan Grothaus, Co-CEO & Founder of myflexbox. "We are very pleased about this nationwide expansion in our open smart locker network. This brings parcel services, e-commerce providers, infrastructure companies, and end customers even closer together. By consolidating on one platform, we make life easier for all users who pick up, send and return packages at central locations—saving time and travel."

Packages suitable for using the shipping and return option via parcel stations must have dimensions up to 37cm x 41cm x 61cm, a maximum weight of 20 kilograms and originate from Austria. The goods' value must not exceed 1000 euros. Hazardous materials shipments are excluded.

FedEx is pursuing a focused approach in the e-commerce segment. The company now offers access to a network of over 40,000 out-of-home locations across Europe.
