After four decades with Air New Zealand, Captain David Morgan is stepping down from his executive role as Chief Operational Integrity and Safety Officer. Despite leaving the leadership position, Morgan will continue flying for the airline, transitioning to the Airbus A320.

Morgan's career began in 1979 when he obtained his commercial pilot's license. He joined Air New Zealand in May 1985, initially piloting the Fokker F27 Friendship. Over two decades, he rose through the ranks to become Chief Pilot in 2003 and joined the executive team two years later.

Reflecting on his tenure, Morgan emphasized the importance of colleagues: "For me, the special part of the airline is our people... it's our people who make me the proudest," he said.

Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran acknowledged Morgan's impact on the airline: "When people think of Air New Zealand, many Kiwi will know or have heard of Captain David Morgan." Foran praised Morgan for his excellence and expressed gratitude for his continued presence as a pilot.

The airline is currently searching for a successor while Morgan remains on the leadership team until early 2025 to aid in the transition.
