Aviation Future Week (AFW), organized by Emirates Airline and the Museum of the Future, concluded in Dubai, bringing together leaders from aviation, aerospace, airfreight, maintenance, overhaul & repair (MRO), and logistics. The event featured discussions on innovation and future technologies.

Held at the Museum of the Future, AFW showcased futuristic products and innovations aimed at improving onboard experiences and ground operations. Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates, stated: “With a rich programme and a display of remarkable technologies and game-changing solutions, the last three days have forged transformative discussions that will help deliver real impact and contribute to the industry’s progress across a gamut of pressing issues.”

The final day focused on Web3, AI, and XR's potential to enhance customer experiences and aviation workflows. Frank Meyer from Etihad Airways discussed how advancements in computing power are transforming airlines by overcoming legacy systems to improve personalization, operational efficiency, inventory management with predictive technologies.

A panel discussion featuring Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher from Emirates Skywards; Frank Meyer; Miguel Leitmann from Vision-Box; Dr. Nils Lukas from Mohamed bin Zayed University highlighted AI-powered feedback collection's role in enhancing customer satisfaction. Leitmann noted AI's transformative impact on airport operations with Emirates as an example.

Dr. Lukas emphasized challenges like maintaining confidentiality while using AI models: “As AI models evolve, maintaining confidentiality and minimising algorithmic bias are key challenges,” he said.

Another panel explored combining XR with generative AI for training enhancement. Timothy Jung from Manchester Metropolitan University stressed personalized training benefits: “With the help of Gen AI and big data...training can be tailored to the needs of each individual.” Tariq Halawani from Microsoft UAE likened technology adoption to cultural change.

Stephan Muller from Whoop discussed wearable technology's impact on team performance through metrics like sleep analysis.

Exhibits included biometric tunnels for barrier-free airport experiences developed with Dubai authorities; sign language robots for hearing-impaired travelers; VR experiences by Emirates for reducing travel anxiety; inflight entertainment systems by Panasonic and Thales showcasing immersive features; autonomous drone inspections integrating UAV technologies; augmented reality maintenance tech providing x-ray views for precise inspections.

Workshops addressed topics such as transitioning aviation towards low carbon futures while balancing growth implications for UAE logistics operations leveraging technology addressing airspace capacity management pilot shortages youth integration into decision-making processes challenging traditional hierarchies among others during this invitation-only event.
