Boeing and Emirates SkyCargo have announced an order for five additional Boeing 777 Freighters. This new order, finalized in September, was previously listed as unidentified on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website. It brings Emirates' total order of Boeing widebody airplanes to 249, including 14 777 Freighters.

Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world's largest international airline, plans to expand its fleet to 21 777 Freighters in the coming years. This move nearly doubles its current fleet of 11 freighters as the carrier aims to increase capacity.

"We're investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand and provide our customers around the world with even more flexibility, connectivity and options to leverage market opportunity," stated HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. He added that demand for Emirates' air cargo services has been booming, highlighting Dubai's status as a global logistics hub.

The Boeing 777 Freighter can travel up to 9,200 kilometers (4,970 nautical miles) and carry up to 102 tonnes of freight. This allows operators to transport more goods on nonstop routes with improved operating economics.

"Emirates continues to set the direction for our industry and we deeply appreciate the trust they have placed in the Boeing widebody family," said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. She expressed pride in supporting Emirates SkyCargo's growth through the performance and versatility of the 777 Freighter.

Boeing forecasts that an additional 2,845 freighters will enter service over the next two decades due to increasing global trade and e-commerce demand. The company is a leading provider of dedicated freighter capacity worldwide.

Boeing is a major aerospace company involved in developing commercial airplanes, defense products, and space systems for clients in over 150 countries. The company's relationship with the Middle East dates back to 1945, with offices established across several cities in the region.
