The aviation sector in Dubai has made a significant impact on the city's economy, contributing 27% to the GDP in 2023. According to a report released by Emirates Group and Dubai Airports, this contribution amounted to AED 137 billion (USD 37.3 billion) and is expected to rise to nearly one-third of Dubai's GDP by 2030. The report highlights that the aviation sector supported over 630,000 jobs last year, with projections indicating an addition of another 185,000 jobs by the end of the decade.

The study conducted by Oxford Economics provides a detailed analysis of the economic activities generated directly and indirectly by the aviation sector. It also examines how tourism facilitated by aviation has bolstered Dubai's economy. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasized the strategic importance of aviation under HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's leadership: “Dubai’s aviation sector has been a core pillar of our city’s economic growth strategy to date, and it will continue to play a key role in the D33 Economic Agenda."

Dubai is making substantial investments in its aviation infrastructure, including plans for Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International airport and expanding capacity at Dubai International Airport. These developments are aimed at meeting future air transport demands and generating more skilled employment opportunities.

In terms of tourism, international visitors contributed significantly to Dubai's economy through spending on hotels, restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Aviation-facilitated tourism spending added AED 43 billion in gross value added last year, supporting around 329,000 jobs.
