Federal Express Corporation, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp and one of the largest express transportation companies globally, recently concluded its innovation competition, Digithon 2024. This event highlights FedEx's focus on leveraging creative problem-solving and smart technology to enhance supply chain resilience.

The competition took place across regional offices in India. It invited FedEx team members to tackle real-world challenges presented by company leadership. These challenges included using advanced sentiment and topic modeling techniques to predict customer pain points, automating service requests, reinforcing learning systems for shipment allocation optimization, and developing predictive models and digital twin systems to improve supply chain efficiency.

Nitin Navneet Tatiwala, vice president of marketing and Air Network at MEISA, stated: “At FedEx, innovation is key to our mission of creating smarter supply chains for all. Initiatives like Digithon 2024 encourage cross-functional collaboration and empower team members to propose transformative ideas that enhance customer experience and operational effectiveness, shaping the future of logistics.”

Professors from the FedEx Center of Excellence at IIT Bombay and Madras provided expert guidance during the process. PhD and MTech scholars will continue engaging with selected problem statements, promoting ongoing collaboration between academia and FedEx leadership.

The solutions generated during Digithon 2024 are currently being evaluated for scalability and potential implementation across FedEx’s operations in India.

Federal Express Corporation is recognized as the world's largest express transportation company, offering fast delivery services to over 220 countries using a global air-and-ground network designed for time-sensitive shipments.
