Vertical Aviation International (VAI) will host an Air Tour Safety Conference from September 23 to 24 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Oahu. This two-day event is aimed at pilots, operators, safety directors, and other industry professionals. It will focus on key topics intended to provide “practical insights and actionable strategies,” as stated by VAI.

The conference will cover a range of subjects including air tour risk management, personal professionalism, compliance with the safety management system mandate, complete information awareness, and passenger safety technologies.

Air tour safety has been a significant concern in Hawaii. Last year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced an initiative to enhance air tour safety in Hawaii. This initiative includes a “consistent new process” that allows operators to safely descend below specific altitudes to avoid adverse weather conditions. However, some operators remain skeptical about the effectiveness of this process.
