Starting December 2, 2024, Delta Air Lines will introduce nonstop flights from Lagos to New York-JFK, continuing through March 28, 2025. This move effectively doubles travel options from Nigeria to the United States. The new service will operate daily in December and January, complementing Delta's existing flights to Atlanta and facilitating connections to over 120 cities across the U.S.

Delta aims to cater primarily to holiday travelers with this service enhancement. It promises improved travel options for Nigerians residing in metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, and New York.

The Lagos flights are operated using Airbus 330-200 aircraft. Passengers can expect a comfortable journey with various seating options available: fully flat-bed seats in Delta One®, extra legroom in Delta Premium Select, and additional comfort features in Delta Comfort+® or Main Cabin.

To ensure smooth travel experiences amidst airport security screening challenges at Lagos Airport, particularly concerning weighing scales at counters' close times, Delta advises passengers on these flights to arrive for check-in no later than three hours before departure.

Travel agencies have responded positively to the reintroduction of the New York–Lagos route by Delta Air Lines. Michael Otubu of Quantum Travels Limited expressed enthusiasm about its return during the holiday season due to high demand between the U.S. and Nigeria. Lola Adefope of Business Travel Management Limited noted that "the timing and combination of Delta’s renowned in-flight service along with daily flights during peak travel months ensures that our customers will have a stress-free journey."

Passengers flying in the premium Delta One cabin on this route can enjoy amenities at the newly minted Delta One Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport. This exclusive lounge offers services like three-course seated meals, a wellness area, and an all-weather terrace designed for passenger relaxation before their flight.
