Starting December 2, 2024, Delta Air Lines will expand its services from Nigeria to the United States by introducing nonstop flights from Lagos to New York-JFK. This new service will operate daily in December and January, complementing the airline's existing daily flights to Atlanta. The expansion aims to provide convenient connections to over 120 cities in the U.S. and beyond.

Delta's new route is particularly focused on holiday travelers and aims to enhance travel options for Nigerians residing in major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, and New York. Flights from Lagos will be operated using Airbus 330-200 aircraft, offering a variety of seating options including fully flat-bed seats in Delta One®, extra legroom in Delta Premium Select, and comfortable options in Delta Comfort+® or Main Cabin.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, Delta advises passengers flying from Lagos to arrive at the airport for check-in no later than three hours before departure due to potential security screening challenges. However, this early arrival does not guarantee check-in if passengers are late.

The reintroduction of the New York-Lagos route has been met with enthusiasm by travel agencies. "We are thrilled about Delta Air Lines reintroducing its New York–Lagos route just in time for the holiday season. This service is crucial for our clients," stated Michael Otubu, Managing Director of Quantum Travels Limited. Lola Adefope, Managing Director of Business Travel Management Limited added that "the timing and combination of Delta’s renowned in-flight service along with daily flights during the peak travel months ensures that our customers will have a stress-free journey between the U.S. and Nigeria."

Additionally, travelers flying in the Delta One cabin on this route will have access to the newly opened Delta One Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The lounge features high-end amenities such as a three-course seated meal service, a dedicated wellness area, and an all-weather terrace designed for relaxation before flights.
