Singapore Airlines has announced a significant cabin upgrade for its Airbus A350 fleet, including the introduction of a new first-class cabin on the world's longest flights. The retrofit program will cover both long-haul and ultra-long-haul aircraft, with enhancements to coach and premium economy cabins, as well as new business-class concepts.

The airline plans to outfit its seven ultra-long-haul A350-900s with a new first-class cabin designed for discerning travelers. Renderings released by Singapore Airlines depict a spacious seat concept similar to private suites seen in other high-end airlines. However, details about the features of the new first class will be revealed closer to its launch.

Currently, Singapore Airlines operates its A350-900ULR on routes such as Singapore to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). These flights are among the longest in the world and will feature the upgraded cabins in the coming years.

In addition to first class, Singapore Airlines is introducing an all-new business-class product on its long-haul and ultra-long-haul A350s. The design includes sliding privacy doors as part of the suite concept. CEO Goh Choon Phong stated that "the new First Class and Business Class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity."

Premium economy and economy cabins will also receive upgrades as part of this extensive retrofit program valued at 1.1 billion Singapore dollars (approximately $834 million USD). An updated KrisWorld inflight entertainment system with greater personalization options will be available throughout the aircraft.

The retrofitted long-haul jets will have 42 business-class seats and 24 premium economy seats. Ultra-long-haul aircraft will include four first-class suites, 70 business-class seats, and 58 premium economy seats.

Singapore Airlines expects its first long-haul A350 with these updates to enter service by mid-2026, while the first ultra-long-haul A350 is anticipated by early 2027. The entire retrofit program is projected for completion by 2030.

Currently, Singapore Airlines operates nonstop flights from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to five U.S. airports: JFK, Newark, San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Additionally, it offers fifth-freedom flights from JFK to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and from LAX to Tokyo's Narita Airport (NRT).
