FedEx Express Swiss Post is advancing construction on a new facility in Gossau, located in the canton of St. Gallen. The joint venture between FedEx Express and Swiss Post plans to open the site next year. The location will offer enhanced infrastructure for handling shipments from large customers and managing increased volume. Construction is on schedule to be completed by fall 2025.

In Gossau, FedEx Express Swiss Post will consolidate operations and administrative activities from its sites in Wängi and Münchwilen. Approximately 35 employees and about ten couriers from business partners will work in a modern environment.

The new facility covers an area of approximately 14,500 square meters, featuring a package hall over 3,600 square meters and office space around 400 square meters. It includes three loading ramps for trucks and 40 for vans to facilitate regional deliveries and pickups. The sorting capacity per hour exceeds that of the current setup by more than 30 percent.

Sustainability features are part of the building's design, including a photovoltaic system covering around 3,400 square meters with planned performance details yet to be finalized. Charging stations for electric vans are also included to support future deployment of electric vehicles.

Ecological considerations were made during initial construction stages, with some excavation materials recycled for use in the building's foundation.

Following the opening of a new facility in Dällikon, Zurich canton, in fall 2023, this Gossau location marks another significant investment by FedEx Express Swiss Post in Switzerland.

"Our goal is to provide our customers with an optimal service experience every day and support them as they grow their businesses," stated Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Benelux for FedEx. "With the new location we are well-positioned for shipment increases such as those seen in e-commerce."

"I am pleased that the new location offers our team members a modern working environment," added Ron Willemsen, Managing Director Ground Operations Switzerland & Austria. "It is designed so that our customers in the region can benefit from better service and opportunities for further growth."

FedEx Express Swiss Post provides a wide range of time-defined transport services including overnight delivery to the USA, shipping to over 50,000 postal code areas across Europe, and door-to-door shipping within Switzerland.
