Delta Air Lines has introduced a private security checkpoint at its Delta One Lounge in New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This addition aligns with the premium facilities available at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), where a similar setup was launched earlier. The JFK lounge, which opened this past summer, now offers a seamless travel experience for Delta One passengers, allowing them to bypass the general airport concourse.

To access the Delta One Lounge and its amenities, travelers must hold a Delta One ticket. Domestic first-class tickets or certain Delta cobranded American Express credit cards do not grant entry. However, those with invitation-only Delta 360 status can access the lounge even when flying on domestic first-class fares. Some SkyTeam partner tickets also qualify for lounge access.

The dedicated check-in area is located in Terminal 4 of JFK, near the drop-off curb. The initial portion of this facility was available from the lounge's debut this summer. Travelers enter through sliding doors into an open-air lobby before proceeding to presecurity refreshments and check-in desks.

The newly added semiprivate security checkpoint marks a significant enhancement since the lounge's opening. Previously, passengers had to join general TSA lines after check-in; now they proceed directly to a private checkpoint equipped with advanced CT scanners that allow laptops and compliant liquids to remain in bags.

Once through security, passengers walk along an open-air walkway overlooking Terminal 4 before reaching the second-floor entrance of the Delta One Lounge. Inside, they find various amenities including dining options and spa services.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian highlighted these lounges as crucial elements in maintaining competitiveness in major U.S. markets during an earnings call last month: "Our new Delta One lounges in New York and LA, with dedicated check-in and private TSA security, truly differentiate Delta's premium offering."

Claude Roussel, vice president of Sky Clubs and lounge experience at Delta, described it as "a game changer," emphasizing how difficult it is to return to regular lines after experiencing dedicated check-in.

Looking ahead, Delta plans to open additional lounges at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) by December and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) early next year.
