His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, met with NBA legend James Worthy at the Emirates Group Headquarters to kick off the Emirates NBA Cup 2024. The tournament begins today.

James Worthy brought the NBA Cup trophy to mark the start of this anticipated event. During his visit, he interacted with Emirates Group employees and signed autographs.

Later in the day, a basketball clinic was held at Zabeel Park as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Young basketball players from Al Nasr Club, aged between 8 and 13, participated in the clinic led by Worthy. They had the opportunity to learn skills and techniques directly from the former professional player.

James Worthy spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a seven-time NBA All-Star, named MVP of the 1988 NBA Finals, and was part of three championship teams in 1985, 1987, and 1988. Additionally, he has been honored on both the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary Teams.
